DAS Aviation has expanded its heat exchanger inspection, repair and overhaul service for Citation operators, aiming to reduce downtime and avoid costly replacements. The programme delivers an average two-week turnaround while restoring each unit to original manufacturer specifications.

Every project begins with a comprehensive incoming inspection covering internal structural and external physical condition, followed by pressure testing and defect evaluation to determine serviceability and any corrective action required. Common findings include fin damage, surface oxidation and corrosion, structural cracking and general wear from time in service. Repairs are matched accordingly: minor local repairs for small, isolated defects, or complete overhauls, including re-core services that replace the core assembly, for more extensive damage. When a two-week turnaround is not fast enough, DAS holds flat rate exchange units in stock and ready to ship.

“Heat exchangers operate in one of the harshest environments on the aircraft, facing both structural and thermal stress,” says Andrew Rietschel, new product development engineer at DAS. “Our job is to return these units to a fully serviceable condition as quickly as possible, without altering the certified design.”

DAS routinely services units on Citation 560XL aircraft and supports the wider Cessna business jet fleet, including 680 series models, drawing on over a decade of in-house repair and overhaul experience. A new DAS video shows technicians removing old welds from end caps, fitting new cores using a precision jig for alignment, completing welding and performing a leak check before units move to the paint shop for finishing.

“Our customers expect fast, dependable turn times,” Rietschel adds. “By standardising our evaluation and repair workflow and adhering to OEM specifications, we deliver consistent quality across the Cessna fleet.”
