DRF Akademie has taken delivery of a new Airbus H145 D3 Flight Training Device (FTD) Level 3, expanding its pilot training capabilities. The device, ordered from Reiser Simulation and Training, has been fulfilled and installed at the Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT) facility in Frankfurt, with DRF Akademie among the first organisations to receive the system. It provides H145 operators, Approved Training Organisations and pilots with a training solution combining operational relevance, flexibility and realistic scenarios.

The simulator is equipped with a mixed reality system and replicates the Airbus H145 D3 with the latest avionics software, version 10. It supports procedures, systems knowledge and normal, abnormal and emergency training, alongside immersive scenarios aimed at decision-making and cockpit teamwork. The device has been designed to achieve Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) qualification by the aviation authorities, a capability that is new for this class of FTD, and can also be used for IFR-related training.

Florian Rabe, Managing Director of DRF Akademie, says: “By investing in and commissioning this new simulator, DRF Akademie reinforces its commitment to providing high-quality training solutions for DRF Luftrettung flight crews as well as external customers, in collaboration with strong partners and with a clear focus on quality, safety and operational excellence.” He adds: “The new system enables us to respond quickly to operational requirements while maintaining the highest training standards for our customers.”

The FTD is integrated into LAT's Frankfurt training infrastructure, complementing existing devices to create a modular environment for qualification and recurrent training. LAT is DRF Akademie's primary partner for simulator operations, providing housing, maintenance and day-to-day operation of the device, and the two partners intend to expand their collaboration further.
