Aviation Services Management, a Dubai-headquartered global flight support and aviation services provider, is celebrating a major milestone in the career of its founder and CEO Vito Guilherme Gomes, as he marks 40 years of service, leadership and contribution to the aviation industry.
For four decades, Gomes has been part of the aviation sector’s evolution, witnessing its transformation through technological advancement, regulatory change, economic uncertainty, geopolitical disruption and shifting customer expectations. Through every phase, he has remained committed to one principle: delivering aviation services with precision, trust, professionalism and reliability.
His journey began from the ground up. His early aviation career covered key operational disciplines including freight and mail, load control, import and export, ramp handling, ground handling, customer service, flight dispatch and international airline operations. This hands-on experience gave him a deep understanding of how aviation works at every level, from the ramp to the boardroom, and later became the foundation for his entrepreneurial vision.
In 1998, driven by determination and industry knowledge, Gomes founded Aviation Services Management, now known globally as ASM. What began as a focused trip support services company has grown under his leadership into a recognised aviation services group serving operators, corporate clients, private aviation customers, governments and airline partners across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia and beyond.
Today, ASM provides a comprehensive range of aviation solutions, including flight planning, overflight and landing permits, ground handling coordination, jet fuel supply, concierge services, hotel accommodation, crew logistics, flight diversion support, Hajj operations, and VIP and medevac charter services. The company operates through a global network covering more than 3,000 locations and is supported by a multilingual team available around the clock.
Through decades of working closely with aircraft owners, operators, corporate clients and private aviation customers, Gomes recognised a recurring challenge in the market. Many aircraft owners were required to coordinate with multiple service providers to complete a single operation: one company for aircraft management, another for trip support and so on. While each service was essential, the fragmented model often created unnecessary complexity, delays, communication gaps and operational pressure.
As client needs evolved, Gomes took the next strategic step by expanding ASM’s capabilities into private aircraft ownership and charter operations. This led to the development of ASM Charter, offering VIP and medevac charter services supported by aircraft such as the Learjet 60XR and Bombardier Challenger 605. The move allowed ASM to go beyond supporting aviation operations from the ground and become directly involved in delivering private aviation missions.
The next major milestone came in 2023 with the achievement of an AOC from the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority, marking ASM’s formal entry into licensed aircraft operations and giving rise to ASM Air as the company’s AOC-backed operating arm. This was not simply a business expansion; it was the completion of a larger vision Gomes had carefully built over time.
By bringing together ASM’s trip support expertise, ASM Charter’s private aviation capability and ASM Air’s licensed operational structure, Gomes created a fully integrated aviation solution for aircraft owners. Today, clients can rely on one trusted aviation partner for aircraft operations, charter services, flight planning, permits, fuelling, ground handling, crew support, concierge arrangements and end-to-end operational coordination.
This ‘all under one roof’ model stands as one of Gomes’ most meaningful contributions to business aviation. It simplifies the ownership and operating experience, improves accountability, reduces operational complexity and gives aircraft owners the confidence that every element of their journey is managed with precision, care and professionalism.
He says: “Reaching 40 years in aviation is not only a personal milestone. It is a reflection of the people, clients, partners, employees and aviation authorities that have trusted and supported this journey. Aviation is built on precision, trust and teamwork. From our early days as a trip support company to our growth into flight support, charter and licensed aircraft operations, our mission has always remained the same: to deliver reliable, professional and seamless aviation solutions wherever our clients need us.
“Forty years is not simply about longevity. It is about consistency, relationships and the ability to evolve while staying true to your values. We are proud of what has been achieved, but our focus remains firmly on the future, on serving our clients better, supporting aircraft owners more efficiently and continuing to contribute to the aviation industry.”
