Kodiak owners gain insurance savings through training partnership
Insurance incentives recognise Kodiak owners completing additional training while taking part in safety-focused community and operational programmes.
The programme’s training element is led by 11 Aviation founder Mark Brown, the highest-time Kodiak pilot in the world with more than 9,000 hours in type.

The Kodiak Owners and Pilots Society (KOPS), 11 Aviation and Travers Aviation Insurance have launched a programme offering insurance-related savings to Kodiak owners and operators who complete additional training and participate in the wider Kodiak community.

The programme allows qualifying owners and operators to receive a dividend equal to 10% of the physical damage coverage premium, excluding War Risk, minus all Physical Damage claims, after completing required annual training alongside additional instruction through 11 Aviation.

Membership of KOPS provides access to fly-outs, safety seminars, owner roundtables and other events intended to strengthen knowledge-sharing and operational standards across the Kodiak operator community.

Training available through 11 Aviation includes initial type instruction, recurrent training and specialist courses covering mountain operations, seaplane flying and off-airport landings.

The programme is built around the principle that connected, consistently trained and properly insured Kodiak operators present a stronger safety profile to insurers.

KOPS held its inaugural gathering in Texas during October 2025, bringing members together for owner roundtables, spot-landing competitions and other activities. Its next event is scheduled for June 5–7 at Silvies Valley Ranch in Oregon, where keynote speaker Michelle “Mace” Curran will attend.
