The bimonthly news publication for aviation professionals.
The International Aircraft Dealers Association (IADA) and the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) have established an educational partnership to broaden professional development opportunities for members of both organisations. The collaboration includes initiatives covering aircraft appraisal education across general aviation.
Under the partnership, IADA’s Quarterly Market Reports will become part of ASA’s Machinery & Equipment Valuation Methodology (Aviation Specific) course. Candidates pursuing ASA’s Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation will receive current market intelligence from IADA’s global network of accredited aircraft dealers, certified brokers and parts and services members. IADA’s board chairs will present the reports virtually as part of the course.
ASA is also working with IADA-U, IADA’s continuing education programme, to develop an online broker education course. It will explain the basic methodology, standards and documentation behind a professional aircraft appraisal and review ASA’s credentialling process. The course is designed to help aircraft dealers, brokers and other aviation professionals better understand the appraisal process and the information appraisers need to produce credible valuations.
Lou Seno, executive director of IADA, says: “ASA students gain valuable market intelligence, while IADA members gain a better understanding of the disciplined process behind professional aircraft appraisals and how they can contribute to more accurate valuations.”
Guillermo Ortiz de Zarate, chief executive officer of ASA, adds: “Combining IADA’s market expertise with ASA’s appraisal education helps strengthen professional knowledge and confidence throughout the business aviation industry.”
ASA is a multi-discipline, non-profit international organisation of professional appraisers. Its disciplines include appraisal review and management, business valuation, gems and jewellery, machinery and technical specialties, personal property and real property. IADA is a professional trade organisation for the aircraft resale industry. Its accredited dealers go through vetting and continuous reaccreditation.
