Honeywell FGV is now part of Starr Safety Partnership
Honeywell Aerospace is the first avionics company to deliver on the significant potential of FGV approaches to enhance safety and efficiency for pilots landing at runway ends without a precision approach.
FGV approaches are about adding an extra layer of safety and peace of mind.

Honeywell's FMS Guided Visual (FGV) approaches have been added to Starr Safety Partnership's network of service providers.

Honeywell FGV approaches provide pilots with lateral and vertical guidance to the runway using strategically-placed transitions around the airport. Titled ‘RNAV H’, these procedures are developed, tested and coded into the FMS navigation database by Honeywell experts for use by operators conducting a visual manoeuvre to the runway.

“Whether you're flying in an unfamiliar area, landing at night or navigating challenging conditions, FGV approaches are about adding an extra layer of safety and peace of mind. It's a perfect fit to join the Starr Safety Partnership, which is focused on increasing safety for a flight department,” says Carey Miller, senior technical sales manager at Honeywell Aerospace and a Gulfstream G600 pilot.

Starr Aviation, a division of Starr, launched the Starr Safety Partnership in 2022 to provide an additional level of safety for Starr-insured pilots and aircraft owners. Its services apply to each phase of aircraft ownership, from acquisition through safe and cost-efficient operation to the sale of an aircraft.

“At Starr, our top priority is to give pilots and aircraft owners every possible advantage to operate safely and with confidence,” states Andrew Madison, AVP, director of safety and loss control aviation. “Honeywell's FMS Guided Visual approaches are a valuable addition to our network, providing advanced technology that enhances safety during a critical phase of flight.”

Honeywell Aerospace is the first avionics company to deliver on the significant potential of FGV approaches to enhance safety and efficiency for pilots landing at runway ends without a precision approach. Each FGV approach can be flown manually or coupled to the autopilot. No regulatory approvals are required for FMS guided visuals.

Honeywell Aerospace has already incorporated FGV approaches for about 100 airports into its extensive FMS database, with more airports on the way.
