StandardAero will support the global fleet of Robinson R66 helicopters powered by the Rolls-Royce RR300 engine after being selected by Robinson Helicopter Company to provide a recommended engine overhaul solution for operators.
The agreement establishes shop capacity commitments and defined turnaround targets intended to reduce operational downtime for the R66 fleet while helping stabilise maintenance costs for operators.
StandardAero currently holds approval for 150 RR300 component repairs and is developing an additional 180 repairs aimed at reducing part replacement costs during engine maintenance events.
“We are excited to work with Robinson and its network of service centres to provide reliable engine support to its operator base,” says Ray Franczuk, interim vice president and general manager for StandardAero’s helicopters business at StandardAero. “Our OEM-aligned technical expertise allows us to keep quality and reliability at the forefront of our service offering.”
“This agreement addresses one of the largest challenges our customers face; unpredictable engine overhaul costs and turnaround times," adds David Smith, president and CEO of Robinson Helicopter Company at Robinson Helicopter Company. "Increasing overhaul costs and extended downtime directly impact our operators' profitability and their ability to maintain consistent flight schedules. By securing predictable turnaround times for the 2,000-hour and 4,000-hour PMI events, we are providing the predictability our customers need to manage their business effectively.”
Operational planning will combine demand forecasting with material planning to improve parts availability. Services will be delivered through four StandardAero facilities located in Winnipeg and Richmond in Canada, Concord in North Carolina and Hampshire in the United Kingdom.
