Enstrom kicks off new year by meeting many goals
Enstrom completed a seamless transition in leadership, with former COO Adam Richardson assuming the role of president and CEO of Enstrom. Former president Todd Tetzlaff remains an integral part of the core setup.
Light helicopters are Enstrom's specialty.

Last year saw Enstrom Helicopter Corporation continue its resurgence into the light helicopter market. From new, deluxe models to new partnerships to impressive showings at trade shows, there was a lot to celebrate. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2022 and has been under new ownership since that time. Senior management has been working hard to resume production and support the product line.

With full FAA certification of Enstrom's crash resistant fuel system (CRFS) for new 480B helicopters, the team can once more sell helicopters in the domestic US market. This technology, in partnership with Safran Aerosystems, is designed to minimise the risk of post-impact fuel fires during crashes, demonstrating Enstrom's continued commitment to safety.

Several more official approvals are being finalised, including validation from EASA and certification of the CRFS developed for Enstrom's piston-powered 280FX. Customers should expect to hear more in the following weeks.

Another big story to come from the past calendar year is the debut of Enstrom Helicopter's new slate of 480B helicopter models, featuring the 480B Elite. In addition to exclusive paint and interior styles, the Elite includes all the top-of-the-line features Enstrom has to offer, including an all-glass digital instrument panel, Garmin G500H avionics, GTN750/GTN650/digital audio radios, ADSB In/Out surveillance, Genesys autopilot and air conditioning.

The 480B Signature includes comparable features for engine indication, avionics, radios and surveillance. The standard 480B will remain a legacy product for customers who just want the basics or who prefer analog engine indication and avionics systems.

Enstrom completed a seamless transition in leadership, with former chief operating officer Adam Richardson assuming the role of president and CEO of Enstrom. Former president Todd Tetzlaff remains an integral part of Enstrom's core leadership team as senior vice president of regulatory affairs and global relations.

Richardson says: “It's amazing I get to start with the full complement of knowledge we've built over the past two years. Todd is still here. I'm still here. What we are doing is organising and right fitting our abilities in the best way for our employees, our customers and our business model.”

In addition to promoting Richardson to president, Enstrom also created a new senior leadership position, welcoming Charles Wade into his role as senior vice president of product, sales and customer excellence. With an eye on growth and a passion for customer service, Wade began his tenure at Enstrom by working to solidify Enstrom's relationship with current clients and expand the company's reach into new markets.

Wade states: “I saw great potential to reinvigorate the market on a proven product. Working as a team, we will overcome any challenge we might face together.”

Enstrom continues to expand its service centre footprint, with Heli-Lynx Helicopters in southern Ontario joining Enstrom's network. Heli-Lynx is now authorised to perform maintenance, repairs and overhauls on both piston and turbine Enstrom models.

To aid customers in locating the nearest Enstrom service centre, Enstrom developed a new web feature, ‘Find a service centre’. The feature also includes a list of mobile service centres that will travel to meet with the customer in a given region.

Enstrom found opportunities to spotlight these latest developments at trade shows across the globe. Several highlights included VAI Verticon in Dallas, Texas, European Rotors in Cologne, Germany, Sun 'n Fun Aerospace Expo in Lakeland, Florida and EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, which welcomed a record 704,000 visitors in 2025.

“We're just getting started,” concludes Richardson. “With our core values of integrity, trust and teamwork, Enstrom customers have every reason to be excited for the future.”
