Elite simulator delivery lays foundation for EPC's flight training ambitions
Installation of the Elite PI-1000 at Wilson Airport has positioned EPC Aviation to serve rising demand for standardised pilot instruction across East Africa.

EPC Aviation has installed its first advanced simulator at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, setting the stage for what it envisions as Kenya’s most comprehensive pilot training centre.

The newly founded Kenyan FTO has acquired the Elite PI-1000 advanced aviation training device, an FAA-certified, G1000-based simulator convertible between SEP and MEP configurations. The simulator supports ab-initio through advanced and recurrent instruction and is already operational at the Kenya School of Flying.

“For our start project we wanted to work with the best, so naturally Elite Simulation Solutions was the logical choice in assisting us to bring organised flight training to the region, based on already established flight training syllabi approved by EASA in Europe,” says EPC Aviation CEO Walter Zünd.

He adds that integration with ForeFlight supports key elements of modern training: “The added official cooperation with ForeFlight, which is also integrated into Elite's flight simulator, helps cover the core aspects of modern flight training such as navigation (flight plans, waypoints, approaches), communications, systems monitoring (engine, weather, traffic), autopilot management (GFC700) and emergency procedures.”

Elite Simulation Solutions’ director of marketing and sales René Huddlestone says: “We are excited to be part of this newly established flight training centre in Kenya, and we are already looking forward to supporting EPC Aviation on its future simulator projects.”
