Straubing gives DRF capacity to support H145 and EC155 fleets
With its first aircraft overhaul already complete, the Bavarian hangar extends helicopter MRO coverage across southern Germany and into Austria.
The EASA Part 145 site will provide dedicated base maintenance for EC155 and H145 types, with H135 capability planned.

DRF Maintenance GmbH has begun operations at its new hangar in Straubing, Bavaria. The certified EASA Part 145 maintenance organisation has already completed its first major contract, carrying out base maintenance on an official helicopter. The work included software updates and detailed inspections of engines and avionics.

The Straubing location specialises in base maintenance for the Airbus EC155 and H145, with future capability for the H135. Its infrastructure includes maintenance docks, advanced workstations for complex MRO tasks and dedicated workshops for sheet metal and avionics work. Operators can also carry out aircraft modifications on-site, with minimal downtime.

The site complements DRF Maintenance’s existing locations in Wilhelmshaven and Rheinmünster at Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport. As one of Europe’s largest helicopter MRO centres, Rheinmünster anchors a broader service network now expanded by the new southern base.

Helicopters from nearby DRF Luftrettung HEMS bases and ARA Flugrettung in Austria can now be maintained at Straubing, alongside aircraft from external customers.

“The opening in Straubing is an important step both for us and for our customers,” says Hendrik Schubien, managing director of DRF Maintenance GmbH. “It brings our service quality closer to them and at the same time enables more efficient processes.”

He adds: “As part of DRF Luftrettung, we benefit from over 50 years of experience in air rescue and maintenance. This expertise remains at the heart of our quality promise.”
