Operators facing rising costs and modernisation pressure are turning to dual-role helicopters for civil and government use, according to Rotortrade’s latest report.
Western Europe remains the dominant region for demand, while Central and Eastern Europe are stepping up fleet modernisation in response to delays in OEM deliveries and increased aircraft costs. This shift is pushing operators toward the pre-owned segment.
“Europe remains a stable but shifting market, moving toward agility, modernity and dual-purpose aircraft that meet civil and government needs alike,” says Gérard Pau, head of region Europe at Rotortrade.
Rotortrade notes that models such as the AW139, AW169, H145, H135, H125, H130 and Bell 407/429 remain popular thanks to their versatility and cost-effectiveness. The European fleet totals 2,657 turbine helicopters, with a nearly equal share of single- and twin-engine types. Although overall annual transactions have softened slightly since 2022, demand for mission-ready aircraft has stayed strong.
“Our European strategy is built on supporting operators with integrated solutions – aircraft, maintenance, training and financing – delivered with the agility the market now requires,” says Philippe Lubrano, CEO of Rotortrade.
With a certified maintenance facility in Tallard, France and a continent-wide presence, Rotortrade continues to strengthen its position as a full-service helicopter provider in Europe.
