Diamond Aircraft Industries has delivered three DA62 MPP (Multi-Purpose Platform) special mission aircraft to the Greek Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection. This milestone marks a significant advancement in Greece's aerial surveillance and emergency response capabilities.
The DA62 MPP aircraft are equipped with cutting-edge surveillance and communication technologies, tailored to support firefighting, SAR and real-time intelligence operations. Each aircraft features: Trakka TC-375 EO/IR camera – high-resolution electro-optical and infrared imaging for day and night operations; Smith Myers Artemis mobile phone localisation system – enables precise location tracking of mobile devices to support rescue missions; CarteNav AIMS-ISR mission management system – streamlines mission planning, execution and data integration; line-of-sight and beyond line-of-sight datalink – facilitates real-time transmission of intelligence data to ground stations; 4G/5G datalink – ensures robust and secure communication channels; and maritime VHF radio, which enhances coordination during coastal and maritime operations.
“This delivery represents a major step forward in our commitment to supporting governments with advanced aerial solutions,” says Mario Spiegel, head of sales, Diamond Special Mission Aircraft. “The DA62 MPP is engineered for high performance and efficiency in demanding environments, and we are confident these aircraft will significantly enhance Greece's ability to respond to climate-related emergencies and protect its citizens.”
The comprehensive contract, signed in Athens, includes not only the aircraft but also ground stations, training, spare parts and long-term support. Prime contractor ATESE, in collaboration with Diamond Aircraft and local representative IHOR, played a pivotal role in bringing this project to fruition, from initial demonstration flights in November 2022 to completion of deliveries in October 2025.
Diamond Aircraft remains committed to innovation and excellence in special mission aviation and is honoured to support Greece in its mission to safeguard lives and natural resources.
