The CJ1 was recently added to Garmin’s supplemental type certificate alongside the CJ2.

Duncan Aviation has made the all-Garmin integrated avionics solution available to owners and operators of Citation CJ1 aircraft. The upgrade combines dual G600 TXi flight displays, dual GTN 750Xi navigators, a TXi EIS display, GFC 600 autopilot, GMA 350 audio panel and GI 275 standby instruments.

The CJ1 was recently added to Garmin’s approved model list supplemental type certificate, which also applies to the Citation CJ2.

Teams at Duncan Aviation’s satellite facilities in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Denver, Colorado, have carried out similar installations for aircraft including Pilatus PC-12s, King Air 90/200s and Citation CJ2s, as well as for the company’s own aircraft.

Duncan Aviation corporate jet captain Michael Kussatz says, “One is the GFC 600 digital autopilot offers coupled with Garmin GTN Xi. They offer Vertical Navigation (VNAV) descents, fully coupled go-arounds and Garmin’s Electronic Stability Protection (ESP), which works in the background to nudge the aircraft back to a safe altitude during manual flight.”

He adds, “It can fly a range of approaches and holds, build custom holds and includes Emergency Descent Mode (EDM) to automatically descend in the event of cabin depressurisation.”

Captain Kussatz highlights the GWX 8000 StormOptix weather radar with auto mode as another feature that improves safety. “The auto mode allows hands-free operation, and the enhanced ground clutter suppression provides a clearer weather picture. You can also add the PlaneSync connected aircraft management system, which automates database updates, logs flight/engine data and allows remote state checks via the Garmin Pilot app.”

Future installations are expected to take around eight weeks and can be scheduled at Duncan Aviation’s main facilities in Battle Creek, Michigan; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Provo, Utah, or at satellites in Denver, Atlanta and St. Paul.
