FAI Air Ambulance short-listed for ITIJ award
The Nuremberg-based air ambulance operator has been named a finalist in the Air Ambulance Company of the Year category for the seventh consecutive year, reflecting its fleet diversity and operational excellence.
FAI Air Ambulance has completed nearly 800 air ambulance missions over the past 12 months.

FFAI Air Ambulance has been nominated as one of three finalists in the Air Ambulance Company of the Year category of the International Travel & Health Insurance Journal (ITIJ) Awards 2025, alongside Redstar Aviation and REVA, Inc. This is the seventh consecutive nomination for the Nuremberg airport-headquartered company, which previously won the award in 2012, 2020 and 2021. The winner will be announced at a ceremony in Venice on 6 November, closing the annual ITIC Global Conference.

The ITIJ Awards recognise companies in the global travel and health insurance sector that drive positive change and excel in customer service. Judging is conducted by an independent panel using a scoring card.

Volker Lemke, managing director of FAI Medical Services, says: “We are honoured to be nominated by ITIJ once again. These awards are among the most prestigious a company operating in this sector of the industry can receive. It underscores our service quality and ability to mobilise quickly in emergency and medical repatriation flights.”

This latest nomination follows FAI’s 'Most Innovative Air Ambulance Service' Award win at the Middle East Aviation Business Awards in December 2024. Over the past 12 months, FAI Air Ambulance has completed nearly 800 air ambulance missions, operating one of the world’s largest air ambulance jet fleets.

Its operations comprise a diverse, state-of-the-art ten-strong Bombardier aircraft fleet, including Learjet 60, Challenger 604 and Global Express aircraft, all equipped with advanced medical technology capable of handling a wide range of medevac missions. The fleet diversity allows FAI to tailor services to each patient’s needs, ensuring the highest level of care even in the most critical and challenging cases. FAI Air Ambulance is supported by more than 70 part-time physicians, nurses and paramedics.
