CTB expands operations with second São Paulo base

Composite Technology do Brasil (CTB), a joint venture between Lockheed Martin's Sikorsky Aircraft and Líder Aviação, has opened its second base at Campo de Marte Airport in São Paulo. The new facility is scheduled to begin operations in December 2025 and will expand blade repair services in the region.

CTB has 25 years of experience in Brazil, specialising in composite aircraft component maintenance with a focus on helicopter blades. It is an authorised service centre for Leonardo, Bell and Sikorsky, and has been operating at Jacarepaguá Airport in Rio de Janeiro since 2000, where its service model is certified by ANAC and aligned with international standards.

Campo de Marte was chosen strategically as it is home to the world’s largest helicopter fleet and several rotary wing operators, including manufacturers, air taxi companies and maintenance workshops. Around 30 per cent of CTB’s customer base is already concentrated in São Paulo state, which influenced the decision to expand there.

The São Paulo base will mirror the service offering of the Rio site, including blade repair, erosion treatment, balancing, painting and finishing. The company expects the new location to increase customer numbers by 20 per cent.

“The opening of the São Paulo branch represents a milestone for CTB, as it allows us to be even closer to our customers in one of the most important aviation markets,” says CTB general director Thiago Damasceno. “This initiative strengthens CTB’s position as a leader in helicopter blade repairs in Latin America and reflects the market’s confidence in the work we have developed over the years.”
