L. J. Aviation renews Wingman certification after June audit
The Latrobe-based operator retained its Wingman status and gained SMS Level 4 certification, reaffirming its commitment to high safety standards.
The company operates more than 30 aircraft, including a Bombardier CL350, from its Latrobe base and satellite offices across four other states.

L. J. Aviation has retained its Wyvern Wingman certified operator status following a safety audit carried out by Wyvern in June 2025. The Wingman standard, regarded as the industry’s first air charter audit benchmark, is used by customers to compare an operator’s safety performance against best operating practices.

Based at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, L. J. Aviation manages a fleet of over 30 aircraft including Boeing Business Jets, Bombardier Globals, Challengers, Learjets, Cessna Citations and Beechcraft types. It provides aircraft management, charter, maintenance, hangarage and FBO services across multiple locations including Massachusetts, Wisconsin, New York and other parts of Pennsylvania.

“Renewing our Wyvern Wingman status and achieving SMS Level 4 certification reflects L. J. Aviation's unwavering commitment to safety and operational excellence,” says L. J. Aviation director of safety Jeffrey McAllister. “These accomplishments demonstrate that our safety management system is more than just policy; it's an active, evolving process that supports every flight we operate.”

The Wingman audit includes review of operational history, safety records, SMS, pilot and aircraft records, and maintenance processes.

“L. J. Aviation's renewal of its Wyvern Wingman certification reinforces their position in the air charter industry,” adds Wyvern SVP of operations Andrew Day. “This continued recognition reflects its ongoing dedication to a mature and effective safety culture.”
