UrbanLink has agreed to lease up to 10 electric conventional takeoff and landing aircraft from Beta Technologies, with the first delivery scheduled for late 2027. The deal was made with a major alternative asset finance company and positions the South Florida operator to begin all-electric operations that year.
Operations will make use of a network of FBOs across the region, with routes planned north to Orlando and Tampa and south through the Keys to Key West.
The company also intends to acquire Beta’s electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft when certified, launching them from a network of vertiports being developed alongside airports and local authorities.
UrbanLink is holding talks with multiple international airlines about offering onward connections from Florida airports including Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach. Discussions are also underway with cruise lines to provide air links between airports and seaports.
Ed Wegel, CEO at UrbanLink, says: “This agreement accelerates our goal of launching all-electric passenger service in South Florida. The Beta eCTOL aircraft is the only electric aircraft that meets our current operational and performance requirements.”
