flyAdvanced earns SMS Level 2 and Wingman status
The company achieved both certifications by embedding structured safety systems into everyday operations and completing Wyvern’s ongoing Flight Leader Program.
Mike Devine, flyAdvanced’s director of flight logistics, says SMS Level 2 proves the operator’s safety programme is working in day-to-day operations.

flyAdvanced Aviation Group has achieved SMS Level 2 certification and retained its Wyvern Wingman designation, both valid until June 2027. The certifications support the company’s stated focus on building a transparent safety culture grounded in formal systems and consistent application.

The SMS Level 2 achievement signals that flyAdvanced has implemented safety risk management and assurance procedures and is applying them to real-time operations. Often referred to as the 'reactive phase', Level 2 typically requires a year of groundwork and marks a shift from theoretical frameworks to active hazard identification and correction.

“Achieving SMS Level 2 certification shows that our internal safety management programme isn't just theoretical. It's functioning every day to support safer outcomes for our crews, our aircraft and our clients,” says Mike Devine, director of flight logistics at flyAdvanced. “It's an important benchmark that recognises the effort we've put into building a robust and transparent safety process.”

flyAdvanced also maintained its Wyvern Wingman status via participation in the Flight Leader Program and quarterly coaching. Wyvern’s audit covered safety culture, compliance management, human factors, emergency response and internal evaluation procedures.

flyAdvanced has achieved Wingman certification, affirming its effective safety management and operational oversight,” adds Andrew Day, Wyvern senior vice president, operations. “By participating in Wyvern's ongoing evaluation and monitoring programmes, Wingman operators uphold exceptional safety standards. This certification demonstrates flyAdvanced's dedication to operational excellence and client trust.”
