HSI expands Spring facility to meet MRO demand
Over 25,000 square feet of operational space has been created to serve growing completions, MRO and air medical needs.
HSI’s expansion adds new shop areas for sheet metal, composites, avionics and other support capabilities.

Helicopter Services Inc. (HSI) has expanded its facility at David Wayne Hooks Memorial Airport near Houston, bringing the total size to over 25,000 square feet. The Spring, Texas-based company says the added space strengthens its ability to deliver helicopter-focused MRO and completions services.

General manager Mike Crossland says: “This expansion is a key step forward in best supporting our many helicopter customers with a broad range of client-focused services.” The new facility includes dedicated areas for sheet metal, composite, avionics and other essential shop functions.

HSI’s clients include the Houston Police Department, Oklahoma Department of Public Safety and Florida Keys Mosquito Control District. Its services are also relied upon by air medical providers, public safety agencies and private owners.

“We continue to focus on being a one-stop-shop for operators, improving the efficiencies of turnaround time and supporting their planning for operational effectiveness,” says Robin Crossland of HSI.

The technical team works with equipment from Isolair, Goodrich Hoist, Wescam, Shotover, Trakka and others, and frequently integrates mission systems such as the MX-10 and Geneva Panel. HSI is also the only company on the General Services Administration marketplace focused solely on helicopters, offering Airbus aircraft completions and acquisition services through that channel.

The expansion comes as the company increases its role in air medical completions, extending its service model to operators nationwide.

Project manager Ali Durham joined the company earlier this year to help support the added capacity. She says: “Joining the team at HSI has been exciting, especially with the expansion adding much-needed space and flexibility. It’s allowing us to better serve our customers with dedicated areas that streamline operations and accommodate specific needs.”

HSI services aircraft from Airbus, Bell, MD Helicopters and Robinson. Clients also include Apollo Air Medical, GCI Communication Inc, the Missouri Department of Conservation, Harris County Sheriff's Office, the City of Austin and New York City DOHMH.

The company is an authorised partner for brands including Airbus, Garmin, Avidyne, Robinson Helicopter Company and Genesys Aerosystems.
