Preflight Mitigator rebrands as Rise SMS with broader capabilities
The safety software company has updated its name to match its expansion beyond risk assessments into full lifecycle aviation SMS support.

Preflight Mitigator has rebranded as Rise SMS. The change reflects the platform’s transition from a risk assessment tool to a full-featured safety management system. The platform now supports the entire safety lifecycle including hazard reporting, corrective actions, monitoring and promotion.

Rise SMS serves operators, flight schools, maintenance teams and airport authorities under FAA Parts 91, 125, 135, 141, 145 and 139. Its original focus on simplifying risk assessments for aviation teams has expanded to include tools for policy distribution and safety assurance.

CEO Michael Sidler says the name reflects a broader vision: “Rise SMS reflects our commitment to helping aviation teams lead with clarity, simplify compliance and proactively manage risk. It's about empowering organisations to build smarter, more connected safety systems that adapt and grow as their operations evolve.”

Platform enhancements will include AI-powered risk assessments, smarter FRAT suggestions and audit automation. These aim to reduce manual tasks and deliver data-driven recommendations for better safety outcomes.

Sidler adds: “Rise SMS is built for where the industry is headed, not just where it's been.”
