Jet Aviation has redelivered its quietest narrow-body completion, with sound levels in the principal’s seat below 40 dB SIL. The contemporary interior, designed by the company’s in-house design studio, was engineered, produced, installed and certified at their completion centre in Basel, Switzerland.
Jet Aviation developed an in-house acoustic lab to build on the team's previous work in sound and weight balance and develop technologies to analyse and test different materials for their acoustic properties.
“We are very proud to be setting a new standard in acoustic performance for VIP completions,” says Christoph Fondalinski, vice president completions. “This was the second aircraft for this customer. The previous redelivery was our quietest and lightest at the time, so there were high expectations for this second cabin.”
The design features special materials certified for use in the cabin by Jet Aviation to further enhance sound dampening, as well as intricate production and installation techniques that reduce the sounds emitted by the interior systems of the aircraft. “It is always very rewarding when a customer returns to us with the challenge of beating our own records,” adds Florent Klinger, head of engineering. “To achieve below 40 dB SIL in a narrow-body aircraft is an incredible achievement.”
The cabin also features four fully customised first-class suites, complete with lie-flat seats, designed to the customer’s exact requirements. The interior palette blends soft cream and beige tones, accented with mother-of-pearl sinks, 100 per cent silk carpets, warm gold metal finishes and a custom-designed embroidered silk bulkhead in the main cabin. Additional features are curved ceilings of over 2.1 metres and four flexible OLED screens fitted flush to the sidewalls.
