Windward equips BK117 with Trakka for high-stakes Hawaii operations
BK117 helicopter gained TrakkaCam, TrakkaBeam and TrakkaMaps systems to improve aerial response across remote and rugged island terrain.
The newly equipped BK117 is set to enter full operation shortly.

Windward Aviation has enhanced its BK117 helicopter with Trakka Systems’ Total Mission Solution, upgrading its response capability across Hawaii’s diverse and challenging environments. The integration supports the company’s public safety, conservation and emergency missions statewide.

The system includes the TrakkaCam TC-300 Gen II, providing HD colour and infrared imaging, the TL-360 LED/LEP searchlight for high-output illumination and the TM-100 mapping platform. Together, they form a seamless, mission-ready package designed to improve aerial coordination and situational awareness.

Windward Aviation has long supported Hawaii’s government agencies with over 30,000 flight hours logged, assisting in rainforest preservation, wildfire response, wildlife transport and remote logistics.

“We are excited to support Windward Aviation with our Total Mission Solution,” says Trakka Systems western sales director Mike Kipphorn. “Its conservation and public safety efforts align perfectly with Trakka's commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology that enhances mission success in the world's most unique and demanding environments.”
