Hartzell gains approval for Tanis helicopter preheat
Hartzell has received STC approval for its Tanis helicopter preheat systems for the Airbus H135 helicopter series. The systems are designed to enhance aircraft reliability in cold weather.
Hartzell Propeller offers Tanis preheat systems for numerous piston and turbine powered aeroplanes and helicopters.

Ohio-based Hartzell Propeller has been awarded Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval for its Tanis helicopter preheat systems for the Airbus H135 series. Approvals cover the United States and the EU, and include the EC135T1, EC135T2, EC135T2+, EC135T3, and EC635T2+.

Hartzell Propeller offers Tanis preheat systems for numerous piston and turbine powered airplanes and helicopters, as well as Tanis avionics/cabin preheaters and replacement parts and accessories, with the whole product line aimed at enhancing the ability to perform protected engine starts in colder weather. The preheat systems utilise specialised silicone pad elements designed to heat critical components, including engines, gearboxes, hydraulics, avionics and batteries.

“These Hartzell Propeller STCs for our Tanis brand preheat systems expand coverage for Airbus H135 helicopters,” says Hartzell president JJ Frigge. “The entire Tanis team truly cares about enhancing the reliability, safety and utility of your aircraft, despite the cold weather.”

Hartzell recommends continuous use of its preheat systems when ambient temperatures drop below 50°F (10°C), bringing benefits that include extending the lifespan of vital driveline components, reducing torque oscillations, maximising battery and starter life and increasing ramp and taxi safety. Additionally, the company describes minimised downtime and boosted year-round helicopter utility.
