ACI Jet MRO has introduced a four-day, 10-hour shift schedule at its California-based FAA Part 145 repair station to optimise maintenance workflows and improve turnaround times. The updated structure extends shop hours while reducing disruptions, ensuring more efficient aircraft servicing.
By implementing overlapping shifts, the company can complete tasks more quickly, minimising downtime for business jet operators. Fewer interruptions during work periods also enhance consistency in quality control, streamlining operations without compromising service standards.
Jonathan Carlyle, repair station manager for ACI Jet, says: “By transitioning to a four-day workweek, we’re not only prioritising work-life balance but also refining our operational efficiency to better serve our customers.”
The updated scheduling system maintains balanced staffing across shifts, ensuring the right mix of technician levels, leadership roles and quality control personnel at all times. ACI Jet also continues to provide after-hours and on-call maintenance services, with overtime available when needed to meet return-to-service deadlines.
ACI Jet’s technicians are further using their improved scheduling flexibility to engage in training and mentoring, supporting future aviation professionals through Cuesta College’s Aviation Maintenance Technology programme.
