Elfly Group has appointed Dr. Susan Ying to its board of directors as the company advances its Noemi all-electric seaplane programme. Announced at the Future Opportunities for Seaplanes & Amphibious Aviation Conference in Miami, the appointment brings decades of aerospace experience to the Norwegian company.

Dr. Ying has held leadership roles at NASA, Boeing, COMAC and Ampaire and has been a strong advocate for zero-emission aviation. She was previously president of the International Council of Aeronautical Sciences and is currently a mentor at the Sustainable Aviation Lab. At Elfly, she will help drive the Noemi project toward its first flight in 2027 and commercial entry by 2030.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Dr. Susan Ying to the team,” says Elfly CEO, Eric Lithun. “Her expertise and vision for sustainable aviation align perfectly with our mission.”

Dr. Ying herself adds: “The Noemi project is exactly what the aviation industry needs; an innovative, fully electric, zero-emission aircraft that will set a new standard for regional air mobility.”
