Atlas to pioneer STC for Galileo HDX system in Europe
The company is on track to gain the first supplemental type certificate for the Gogo Galileo HDX system after successful installation.

Atlas Air Service AG is set to attain a supplemental type certificate (STC) for the Gogo Galileo HDX satellite connectivity system, becoming the first European maintenance organisation to achieve this milestone. The system, installed on an Embraer Phenom 300, offers high-speed internet with stable speeds of 45-60 Mbps via the Eutelsat OneWeb LEO satellite network.

The installation was completed at Atlas Air Service's Bremen facility, with European Union Aviation Safety Agency certification expected later in January 2025. Customers can pre-order the system, which enables simultaneous 4K streaming for passengers.

Radu Grigore, maintenance commercial director at Atlas Air Service, says: "The system offers exactly what was expected: high speed and low latency. All passengers can stream different 4K videos simultaneously in a Phenom 300. That's impressive! This Phenom 300 has the highest internet speed ever, and we are proud to have set a new milestone for business aviation in Europe.”

Plans for an STC for the Cessna Citation CJ series are underway, with installations expected to begin in early 2025. By the second quarter of 2025, Atlas Air Service will provide full Gogo Galileo system installations for both aircraft types, available at its facilities in Bremen, Augsburg in Germany and Altenrhein in Switzerland.
