United Arab EmiratesGama Aviation is expanding its presence in the UAE with the introduction of a planned business aviation centre (BAC) at Sharjah International Airport and a new mobile service team (MST).
The BAC, scheduled to open in late Q2 2025, is intended to offer advanced infrastructure to support the UAE’s growing business aviation sector. Located approximately 30 minutes from downtown Dubai, the centre will feature a high-specification fixed base operation with dedicated lounges, flight crew rest pods and bespoke concierge services. The design of the facility is being optimised to minimise transition times, with no slot restrictions for general aviation traffic, to ensure efficient departures and arrivals. Additionally, the FBO will offer short and long leasing on its office spaces for flight operations teams.
In advance of the opening of its flagship BAC, Gama Aviation is also enhancing its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities with the introduction of mobile service teams in Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Dan Dowling, the company's head of maintenance for the Middle East, says: “As we prepare for the opening of the business aviation centre, our aim is to develop a series of regional services hubs that will assist operators with their AOG, line maintenance and minor scheduled needs. The first of these is at Al Maktoum International where we see strong demand for these services.”
The mobile service team will provide MRO services to a wide range of aircraft, including Bombardier Global Express, Challenger series, Embraer ERJ variants and King Air series.
Paul Kinch, managing director of Gama Aviation's MRO services, says: “This is a natural extension of the MRO services we will be delivering from our business aviation centre in Sharjah, replicating the same 'hub and spoke' MST service model that we successfully developed in the US. While our initial focus will be the business aviation hubs situated along the corridor between Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, we aim to extend the network to other Emirates and beyond over the next couple of years.”
