The Centre for GIS, the official geospatial agency of the Ministry of Municipality in the State of Qatar, has taken delivery of one DA62 MPP (multi-purpose platform) Survey Star.

The aircraft comes with a mission equipment suite that includes a Riegl laser scanner 780II-S in combination with a Vexcel Osprey 4.1 large format camera, as well as a changeable option of the Vexcel Osprey camera with a Riegl 880-GII bathymetric sensor. All systems have been integrated and civil certified by Diamond Aircraft in Austria.

“It’s an honour for me to welcome another MPP customer from Qatar to the Diamond Aircraft special mission aircraft family,” says Diamond Aircraft special mission division sales manager Asia Pacific and Middle East Benjamin Schuhmann. “With a brand-new DA62 MPP, CGIS is now capable of collecting all the required data with its own asset. The DA62 MPP has proved its value already to customers in Europe and Asia, therefore we are very proud to finally have the first DA62 MPP Survey Star in the Middle East, with Qatar as a forerunner for modern aerial mapping solutions.”

Diamond Aircraft Industries won the bid from the State of Qatar in 2021 for the delivery of one special mission aircraft. The manufacturer achieved on-time delivery with a design, production and delivery time within 12 months after signature of the contract.
