Camarillo, California-headquartered Part 135 operator Sun Air Jets has finalised the installation of unlimited speed Ka-band on its G450 aircraft. The aircraft is based in Austin, Texas, and is part of Sun Air’s privately managed fleet.

“It has been very exciting to partner with Viasat and bring Ka-band inflight wi-fi to this G450,” says aircraft manager MaKayla Gorski. “We are delighted with the high speed network and international capabilities in the short time the service has been active. We are always looking for opportunities to further the level of service we can offer to our clients, and this was the perfect occasion.”

The system was installed in December 2022 and is now fully operable. Viasat achieved the FAA supplemental type certificate for Ka-band inflight connectivity on the Gulfstream G450 also in December 2022.

Viasat business area director business aviation Claudio D’Amico says: “Viasat’s high speed and high quality Ka connectivity is at long last available to Gulfstream G450 aircraft operators. With over 90 per cent of business aviation routes covered by our Ka network, our solution is a great fit for operators that want fast, reliable connectivity that matches the long range profile of this aircraft.”
