Flexjet sets the safety tone with IAS renewal
Flexjet CEO Michael Silvestro says that one of the company's three guiding principles is paying fanatical attention to detail, a principle that plays an important role in its commitment to safety.

Flexjet, the Cleveland, Ohio-based fractional operator, has renewed its status on the Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF) Industry Audit Standard (IAS) registry.

“By renewing its status on the IAS registry, Flexjet has demonstrated its commitment to high standards,” says ACSF president Bryan Burns. “We congratulate it on its continued commitment.”

Flexjet CEO Michael Silvestro adds: “One of our three guiding principles is paying fanatical attention to detail and this principle plays an important role in our commitment to and achievement in the area of safety. Passing the ACSF Industry Audit Standard is just more piece of evidence that we have one of the highest rated safety management systems in the fractional jet industry.”

The IAS is an extensive audit programme created for on-demand operators by a committee of Part 135 and 91K industry leaders. It is conducted every 24 months and is in-depth in its evaluation of regulatory compliance and the operator's SMS programme against both FAA and international standards.

Flexjet has also been awarded the FAA Diamond Award of Excellence for Aviation Maintenance Technician Training for 2018. This marks the 20th consecutive year that Flexjet has been honoured with the prestigious Diamond Award, more than any other private jet travel provider.

“Safety is our utmost priority, and achieving it starts on the ground, before an aircraft ever takes off, with aircraft that are maintained at the highest possible level to ensure maximum safety and performance,” states Silvestro. “Our aircraft maintenance team members have extraordinary skill and expertise, and they sustain this excellence through constant training. Their hard work and dedication to their craft is reflected in this award, which honours their commitment to our owners and flight crews.”

Established in 1991, the FAA Diamond Award is a level of recognition within the William (Bill) O'Brien Aviation Maintenance Technician Awards programme. Qualifying for the award requires that all of Flexjet's maintenance technicians participate in specialised, continuous training in aviation safety, technical knowledge, aircraft systems, aviation regulations and FAA rules over a 12-month period at levels that surpass not only FAA requirements but also industry standards.
