Airbus to bring Aerokomm connectivity to the ACJ
Aircom Pacific is targeting aircraft owners in China with its Ka-band connectivity system, now that Airbus has firmly agreed to work on its integration.

Aircom Pacific, Inc, has entered into a firm agreement with Airbus that will allow ACJ aircraft to be fitted with its Aerkomm K++ in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) system.

The Ka-band solution for broadband voice and high speed internet access for passengers is expected to offer a broadband rate of 20 Megabits/sec experience per passenger. It combines Aircom Pacific equipment, based on a low profile antenna, with a retrofit installation designed and implemented by Airbus to EASA and FAA certification standards, which will also be validated by China CAAC. It will provide worldwide coverage including, specifically, within China for Chinese registered aircraft.

Once the system has been certified with Airbus design organisation approval and has obtained the relevant certifications from aviation regulators, it will become available for installation on Airbus Corporate Jets single aisle aircraft as well as Airbus' airline commercial aircraft equivalents for post-delivery modification.

“This agreement is a milestone for our company," Jeffrey Wun, CEO of Aerkomm, comments. "Having this firm agreement with Airbus in place, we now have a timeframe for the regulatory approval and commercialisation of our IFEC Aerkomm K++ system. As important, this agreement with Airbus reflects an affirmation of our technology by aviation industry leaders such as Airbus. Further, now that our IFEC system will have an approved retrofit solution by Airbus, we expect that the aviation industries in countries such as China will be more likely to accept our IFEC products for their registered aircraft. We look forward to the ongoing development of this collaboration with Airbus."
