Norwich, UK-headquartered operator SaxonAir is reporting buoyant performance for the last calendar year as it furthers its year-on-year expansion since forming in 2007.

It increased turnover by 32 per cent compared with the previous year to over £13 million in 2015 and welcomed more than 20 new staff to handle this growth. Its services include jet charter, aircraft management, rotary charter, utility surveillance, sales, leasing, flight support and ground handling. As well as expansion at the Norwich head office, the company has opened bases at London Stansted and Luton.

Says commercial director Chris Mace: “Our private air charter service has become increasingly popular for business travellers; it's a recognition of thetime saving that can be achieved by flying privately. Air charter has the ability to turn days into hours, valuable business sense.”

The SaxonAir fleet flew almost 2,500 flight hours in 2015, a 13 per cent increase from the previous year. Its specialist ground handling services have also experienced growth in business aviation activities, seeing over 3,000 private and business aircraft movements, a 12.5 per cent year-on-year increase. “Despite the continued difficulties and industry decline of the offshore and energy market, SaxonAir Flight Support has increased business aircraft movements and fuel sales at our Norwich headquarters,” says CEO Alex Durand. “This demonstrates the importance our aviation sector has regionally. Our diversification into other aviation sectors has played a key part in our continued success.”

SaxonAir has also provided seven apprenticeships within the organisation.
