Quiet Technology Aerospace to display proprietary permanent solution to thrust reverser door corrosion on HTF7000 engines at this year's NBAA-BACE Convention

On display at this year's NBAA Convention in Orlando, Florida, Quiet Technology Aerospace (QTA) will be showcasing a permanent solution to a very expensive, recurring and time-consuming problem to operators of HTF7000 engines, namelycorrosion on the thrust reverser door and side beam assemblies.

Until now, an operator's only remedy was to replace a thrust reverser door with factory new one and, if the side beams are out of limit a new assembly, both at tremendous cost.

QTA has engineered a permanent solution that remanufactures the door, replacing the aluminum in the corroded area with new titanium parts. The side beams are protected by a new titanium cap. QTA's permanent solution has been under FAA review for STC approval, which now appears imminent.

Specifically, the STC QTA is working to receive is for four airframe types:

- Challenger 300/350

- Gulfstream G280

- Embraer Legacy 450/500; Embraer Praetor 500/600

- Textron Longitude

When completed, the QTA thrust reverser door corrosion Ppermanent solution provides the owner with a lifetime structural warranty which is assigned to the aircraft's serial number and transferrable throughout the life of the aircraft.

Titanium has been used in thrust reverser assembles for many years. It is a proven material that guards against corrosion. The new QTA titanium parts are hot formed in CP70 titanium.

Attachment of the new titanium part to the existing structure is conventional using Hi-Loks. The internal contour and exit area of the thrust reversers is kept exactly as the original so there is no impact on engine performance.

For the side beams, a thin titanium skin is mechanically fastened to the surface and provides protection of the aluminum structure from the jet exhaust.

QTA has fully engineered every detail of the thrust reverser assembly to accept its parts and never fail.

A key feature of the QTA permanent solution is QTA can take a thrust reverser door that has corrosion beyond the OEM limits and remanufacture it to the upgraded standard. The same is also true for the side beams.

While QTA does expect STC approval prior to the end of 2022, it can offer operators who cannot wait an FAA approved interim and immediate life extension repair to corroded thrust reverser doors. The life extension applies even if thrust reverser doors or side beams are beyond economical repair (BER). All at a fraction of the OEM cost. Owners choosing the life extension repair will earn significant credit toward the permanent solution in the future if they choose.

Barry Fine, CEO of Quiet Technology Aerospace, clearly has the STC approval finish line in sight and is eager to bring a permanent solution to this recurring problem. “Our approved repair solution to this relentless problem of corrosion on the HTF7000 thrust reverser doors is a game changer. Finally, engineering and technology exists that can repair for now…and permanently resolve very soon, a horribly expensive and time-consuming problem that will not go away by installing new OEM doors…because the underlying OEM problem hasn't been addressed.

"Our door life extension and permanent solution programmes mean operators have a choice when it comes to paying exorbitant fees to OEMs for maintenance service plans that do not remedy the underlying problem. Our engineering and composite technology will terminate corrosion to the thrust reverser doors and side beams. Our upgraded doors and side beams will come with a lifetime guarantee that is transferable and stays with the aircraft. If a customer comes to us now with an immediate life extension repair, we will quickly handle that and give them a significant credit toward our permanent solution, which will be approved and available later this year. It's such a win-win for the operator. It's kind of a no-brainer.”

In addition to the thrust reverser door corrosion display at this year's convention, QTA will also have on display its very successful and popular STC'd permanent solution to engine inner-barrel corrosion affecting several business class jets. QTA has earned eight STC approvals for their engine inlet corrosion solution, all with the same lifetime structural and transferrable warranty.

QTA Inner-Barrel STCs support these aircraft:

- Challenger300/350

- Embraer Legacy 450/500; Praetor 500/600

- Falcon 2000LX/EX

- Gulfstream G200

- Gulfstream G280

- Gulfstream G450

- Hawker 1000

- Learjet 60/60XR
