Embraer awarded certification of head-up display and enhanced vision system for Legacy 450 and Legacy 500

Embraer announced today that the head-up display and enhanced vision system for the Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 have been awarded certification by Brazil's civil aviation authority (ANAC Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil), the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

The company has combined these two systems into the Embraer Enhanced Vision System (E2VS) to raise situational awareness in all phases of flight and enable more missions to be safely completed in inclement weather and low visibility.

“The Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 are the first aircraft to set this new standard of operational performance in the mid-light and midsize segments,” said Marco Tulio Pellegrini, president and CEO, Embraer Executive Jets. “Combined with these aircraft's full fly-by-wire technology, the Embraer Enhanced Vison System delivers innovation previously only available in much larger business aircraft, at a fraction of the price.”

E2VS consists of a compact head-up display (HUD), incorporating Rockwell Collins' new head-up guidance system (HGS) and its multi-spectral EVS-3000 enhanced vision system. The HUD's compact size and discrete profile allowed it to seamlessly be incorporated into the Legacy cockpit and fully integrate with Rockwell Collins' Pro Line Fusion avionics suite.
