Two new AW139 helicopters ordered by Babcock will carry out a range of HEMS, SAR and inter-hospital patient transport missions on behalf of an undisclosed client. CQ Rescue and StarFlight have also signed for the type.

The sale of Babcock oil and gas to CHC is part of a much wider targeted disposal programme, which aims to generate at least GBP400 million. Proceeds from this transaction will be used to reduce net debt.

CHC could soon acquire the oil and gas business of Babcock, which provides offshore oil and gas crew transportation services in the UK, Denmark and Australia. Babcock employs 500 people and has 30 aircraft.
