FBO Focus: Jet Aviation expands capability in Russia
Switzerland's Jet Aviation, which specialises in engineering, completions and refurbishment alongside FBOs and aircraft management, charter sales and personnel services, is expanding its maintenance capability in Russia.

Switzerland's Jet Aviation, which specialises in engineering, completions and refurbishment alongside FBOs and aircraft management, charter sales and personnel services, is expanding its maintenance capability in Russia. It has signed an MoU with Vnukovo Invest, co-owner of Vnukovo airport, to form a joint venture later this year. Jet Aviation's Andre Wall says: "Vnukovo is a prime location for us as it is close to the Moscow city centre and has a high concentration of business aircraft operators."

In 2009, Jet Aviation will move into a new 32,827 sq ft maintenance hangar at a prime location close to the Moscow Vnukovo-3 FBO. Currently Jet Aviation is providing business aircraft technical maintenance services at Vnukovo airport in a 10,763 sq ft dedicated hangar space at Vnukovo-3. The company is authorised to support Bombardier and Gulfstream products in Vnukovo.

Vitaly Vantsev, Vnukovo Invest's chairman says: "This partnership is for us a great opportunity to further develop our full scale FBO services at Vnukovo 3."

VIP Aviation has moved to Tegel and Schonefeld because of the closure of Berlin-Tempelhof which is in the centre of the German capital and cannot be enlarged to accommodate large aircraft. Resources are being concentrated on expanding Schoenefeld, the city's out-of-town airport. VIP Aviation's gm Sebastian Pringel says: "Berlin-Tempelhof closed on 31 October and we started serving our clients from our new locations on 1 November."
