PremiAir moves to address skills shortage
There is a significant skills shortage because of the growing manpower demand generated by the popularity of the helicopter.

There is a significant skills shortage because of the growing manpower demand generated by the popularity of the helicopter. Barry Stone, PremiAir's engineering director, says: "Business aviation in the U.K. is growing fast as people increasingly recognise the time saving and security advantages compared with flying commercially. Unfortunately, however, the supply of well qualified young engineers wishing to make a career in this exciting and rewarding industry has failed to keep pace with business growth." PremiAir has teamed up with Gama and TAG to develop a customised aircraft engineering course in conjunction with Farnborough College of Technology where students will study fixed and rotary wing aircraft engineering. PremiAir's aircraft maintenance and engineering business has its main base at Blackbushe Airport near Camberley. Next month: Business uses and market shares.
