Cimber Air adds two CRJ200s as charter demand rises
Cimber Air, the independently-owned Danish regional carrier, has added two additional Bombardier CRJ200 jets to its fleet - one exclusively for charter. Cimber Air, the independently-owned Danish regional carrier, has added two additional Bombardier CRJ200 jets to its fleet - one exclusively for charter. Cimber's manager charter sales Bent Nielsen says: "The charter take up has been extremely positive. We are developing a significant presence in the Danish charter market." The football World Cup boosted demand with referrals from the likes of Air Partner, Pro Sky and Hunt and Palmer and some private bookings. "We are seeing an equal split 50/50 of charter bookings for business and leisure," adds Nielsen. He says Cimber Air has carved out a real niche with the CRJ in Denmark. "There is no other jet with the capacity we offer in this region - one that can carry up 50 people on a maximum 1,400 nm range." Ad hoc charters have seen Cimber Air take the CRJ to Greenland, Cyprus, West Africa and Russia. The additional two aircraft, which have been leased directly from Bombardier Regional Aircraft will stay in the fleet indefinitely, complementing Cimber Air's ATR72 and ATR42 turboprops. The Cimber Air fleet now has nine CRJ200 jets. The second new acquistion is operating international flights between Copenhagen and Norrkoping. Cimber Air is based in Sonderborg, Denmark and was founded in 1950.
