FTEJerez extends its UK pilot training
The addition of an AL42 will enhance the academy's training capabilities in the UK, supporting students throughout their CPL and Instrument Rating training.
The installation of the AL42 simulator at FTEJerez’ London Oxford airport base is another important step in the continued development of its UK training operations.

FTEJerez has expanded its training base at London Oxford airport with the installation of an AL42 Diamond DA42 simulator. The Spanish flight school began operations at London Oxford airport in late 2025.

CEO Oscar Sordo says: “This is another important step in the continued development of our UK training operations. By enhancing our facilities in the UK, we are even better equipped and have more flexibility when it comes to supporting our UK airline partners and self-sponsored cadets training towards a UK CAA licence, providing them with high-quality training and greater access to the resources they need throughout their training journey.”

The AL42 is an exact replica of the Diamond DA42-VI, built using genuine aircraft parts and equipped with the authentic Garmin G1000 NXI. It also features the latest-generation image generator (VFR-VS), a GFC 700 autopilot and a force-feedback system that ensures enhanced realism. The simulator can also be equipped with either analogue or glass (EFIS) backup instruments.

It is designed for PPL, CPL and IR/ME training in compliance with current UK CAA FNPT II regulatory standards.

The simulator features a new instructor cabin, specifically designed to enhance instructors’ working environment through improved visibility of both the cockpit and the visual system, greater comfort and a more focused setting with the option to close the cabin. The optimised layout, wider desk and a dedicated two-seat observer bench further improve functionality during training sessions.

“We are proud to support FTEJerez as it continues expanding its training operations in the UK. Our partnership reflects a shared commitment to high-quality pilot training, and we are pleased that the AL42 will play a role in this new chapter of its development,” adds Leonardo Rodrigues, sales manager at Alsim.

FTEJerez operates from a 70,000sqm full-board campus in Jerez, Spain plus its UK training base, and is the trusted partner of choice for flagship airline initiatives, including the British Airways Speedbird Pilot Academy, the Jet2FlightPath programme and the Iberia Cadetes scheme.

Over the years, FTEJerez has built and consolidated a range of aviation training services, ranging from the aforementioned airline pilot training to a complete portfolio of air traffic control training, delivered across its specialised hubs in Jerez, Madrid and Barcelona, and bespoke pilot training solutions for its airline customers.
