Sheltair has once again demonstrated its commitment to safety and operational excellence with the renewal of its Wyvern Wingman FBO certification across 15 of its FBO locations. The renewed designation recognises the organisation's continued efforts to strengthen safety practices, support its teams and maintain consistent standards throughout its FBO network.
As the largest network of FBOs to maintain Wingman status, Sheltair continues to distinguish itself through an organisation-wide approach to safety and service. Recertification provides aircraft operators, flight departments and private aviation customers with an additional level of confidence when selecting Sheltair facilities, knowing that each certified location has been independently evaluated against Wyvern's established safety and operational criteria.
“Achieving another successful Wyvern audit is a testament to our team's unwavering commitment to safety, excellence and continuous improvement,” comments Robert Cavetti, Sheltair's director of safety and training. “We take great pride in upholding the highest standards in aviation safety, training and compliance, and this accomplishment reflects the dedication and hard work of our entire team. We look forward to building on this success and continuing another year of excellence under the Wingman certification.”
Renewal of the Wingman FBO designation requires a comprehensive assessment of the systems and practices that influence safety throughout an organisation. Sheltair's evaluation examined critical areas including its safety management system, organisational safety culture, risk management practices, emergency response preparedness and employee training programmes. The process provides an independent measure of how effectively these elements are incorporated into day-to-day operations.
“Sustaining excellence in aviation ground operations requires a commitment to accountability, consistency and the continuous advancement of safety practices,” states Andy Day, Wyvern chief operating officer. “Sheltair continues to demonstrate these principles across its FBO network, reinforcing the importance of a proactive safety culture at every level of the organisation. Its successful Wingman FBO renewal reflects the dedication of its team and its ongoing efforts to establish a higher benchmark for safety and operational performance throughout the industry.”
Founded in 1963 by Jerry Holland, father of current Sheltair president Lisa Holland, Sheltair is the USA's largest privately owned aviation network, proudly operating 16 award-winning FBOs and a portfolio of over 4.7 million sq ft of aviation-related properties.
Sheltair announced its intention to pursue Wingman FBO certification in March 2025 and achieved initial certification across 15 locations on 3 September 2025, becoming at that point the largest network of FBOs to hold the designation.
The Wingman FBO Standard was published by Wyvern in its first edition on 18 March 2025, the same month Sheltair committed to the programme.
