5X5 Aviation Insurance has introduced the Safe Pilot Partnership, a scheme developed with Sporty's and PilotWorkshops that gives eligible piston aircraft pilots measurable insurance value for maintaining proficiency through recurrent training.
Under the programme, eligible 5X5 piston aircraft insured pilots can earn a 5% premium credit for completing a qualifying Sporty's or PilotWorkshops online proficiency course annually, plus a further 5% credit for completing 10 or more VFR or IFR Mastery scenario-based workshops within a 12-month policy period. The credits stack within 5X5's existing Safety Rewards programme, allowing pilots to earn up to 10% in annual training-related premium credits towards a maximum of 20% in total credits, subject to underwriting guidelines.
Sporty's, founded in 1961 and based in Batavia, Ohio, provides pilot training, supplies and resources, and acquired PilotWorkshops, whose scenario-based VFR and IFR Mastery workshops and online courses have served a community of more than 200,000 pilots over the past 20 years. Through the Safe Pilot Partnership, 5X5 becomes a recommended insurance solution for eligible Sporty's and PilotWorkshops customers, and the three companies will also collaborate on educational content, including a Q&A video series and newsletter content featuring Zimmerman on proficiency and recurrent training.
