The Baltimore County Police Department has placed an order for a new Airbus H125 helicopter. Purchased through Davenport Aviation's GSA contract, the aircraft represents the department's second new H125 acquisition through Davenport and will replace an older AS350B3 currently in service.
Based in Maryland, the Baltimore County Police Department operates a fleet of three Airbus helicopters supporting public safety missions across the county. Following delivery of the new aircraft, the department will maintain its three-helicopter fleet, with two of the three aircraft modernised to the H125 platform.
The department's aviation unit supports a wide range of missions across Baltimore County, including routine patrol, search and rescue, command and control, and emergency response.
The replacement of the AS350B3 reflects the department's continued investment in modernising its aviation capabilities while maintaining the fleet size required to support daily operations. The new H125 will provide updated technology, proven performance and mission flexibility for demanding airborne law enforcement and public safety missions.
“We're honoured that the Baltimore County Police Department has once again chosen Davenport Aviation to support the modernisation of its aviation fleet,” says Rob McMillin, vice president of aircraft and aircraft systems at Davenport Aviation. “The H125 has proven itself as an exceptional platform for airborne law enforcement, and we're proud to help deliver another aircraft that will serve the department and the citizens of Baltimore County for years to come.”
The H125 is a versatile single-engine helicopter widely used by public safety agencies for patrol, SAR, surveillance, tactical support and other specialised missions. Its performance, manoeuvrability, advanced avionics and mission flexibility make it well suited for the Baltimore County Police Department's diverse operational requirements.
Mission equipment integration and aircraft completion will be performed by Metro Aviation in Shreveport, Louisiana. The completed aircraft is anticipated to be delivered to the Baltimore County Police Department in October of 2027.
The purchase is being completed through Davenport Aviation's GSA contract, providing Baltimore County with a streamlined procurement path for the aircraft and associated programme support. The department's first new H125 was also purchased through Davenport's GSA contract, continuing an established relationship between the two organisations.
Davenport Aviation is a supplier of aircraft, components and mission equipment to government and public safety agencies worldwide and an Airbus authorised reseller to the US Government. It is proud to continue supporting the Baltimore County Police Department and looks forward to working alongside Metro Aviation throughout the completion and delivery process.
