High Flying Hangars has signed a lease agreement for a hangar development at Manassas Regional Airport (KHEF) in Virginia, allowing engineering and architectural permitting work to begin.
The project targets one of the region's most persistent infrastructure shortages, with aircraft owners at Manassas facing waiting lists of up to three years and limited alternatives at nearby airports.
“Manassas is a very important GA airfield,” says Kenny Hinkes, founder and CEO of High Flying Hangars. “It's right under the Dulles Class B airspace, and it provides significant resources to the city.”
The development will feature insulated hangars equipped with heating, private restrooms, premium power doors and other amenities aimed at owner-operators.
“There's no shortage of demand for hangars at Manassas, and we're thrilled to be able to provide owners with what they desire, while including amenities that greatly improve the hangar ownership experience, such as full insulation, heating, private restrooms and premium power doors,” says Lisa deFrees, senior vice president of sales and marketing at High Flying Hangars.
Warner Construction has been appointed general contractor for both the Manassas project and a second High Flying Hangars development at Frederick Municipal Airport (KFDK) in Maryland.
“We are so excited about the recent lease signing at the Manassas project. We are thankful to build our relationship with High Flying Hangars, because they are great people to work with. We're pleased to be a critical part of their model,” says Randy Sibold, president of Warner Construction.
SEI (Smolen, EMR, Ilokovitch) Architects will lead the design programme. The development will offer 2,000 sq ft and 3,600 sq ft units featuring Diamond Bi-Fold Doors and Smart Door technology. More than half of the available hangars had already been reserved at press time.
