Tampa Executive Airport (VDF) is undergoing one of the largest general aviation infrastructure expansions in the history of Hillsborough County Aviation Authority facilities, with four privately developed hangar projects progressing across the airport.
Together, the developments will add around 42,000 square feet of hangar space through more than $6.4 million in private investment, increasing aircraft capacity and supporting long-term growth at the Florida airport.
The first completed project was a nearly 12,000 square-foot hangar developed by fixed-base operator Skyport Aviation. Construction began last summer and concluded in March, with the project also adding 20 vehicle parking spaces.
A second development, which started in June 2025, is expected to contribute a further 12,000 square feet of hangar space. The project is now more than halfway complete and is expected to finish by the end of the summer.
Another development currently under construction will create a 12,000 square-foot facility divided into two separate 6,000 square-foot hangars. Airport officials expect that project to conclude before the end of the year.
A fourth hangar project, covering approximately 6,000 square feet, remains in final permitting and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
The airport says the additional hangar developments will strengthen economic activity while positioning VDF for continued long-term growth.
