EFA branches into MRO in Greece through Superior stake
The investment by EFA Group in Superior Air strengthens the group's operational footprint, particularly in technical support and the upgrade of military aircraft, while enhancing its capabilities in the civil aviation sector.
EFA has been given a warm welcome.

Greece's Superior Air has been acquired to the tune of a 90 per cent stake by dual-use defence technology EFA Group, marking the EFA Group's dynamic entry into the fields of MRO, aviation training and specialised aviation services in helicopters and fixed wing aircraft.

Superior Air provides comprehensive general aviation services in Greece and internationally. It operates as an authorised MRO centre for helicopters and aircraft, holding both international and domestic certifications required for the execution of major technical works, as well as for the full overhaul of specific helicopter and airplane types. In addition, the company provides maintenance services and continuing airworthiness management for a wide range of helicopters and airplanes.

At the same time, Superior Air is strongly active in pilot training, covering a broad range of aviation training services, from initial flight training to advanced and specialised programmes. Its extensive operational experience in ad hoc flight services also represents a key growth pillar for specialised aviation operations.

The strategic investment by EFA Group in Superior Air significantly strengthens the Group's operational footprint, particularly in technical support and the upgrade of military aircraft, while also enhancing its capabilities in the civil aviation sector.

Through this investment, EFA Group will be able to undertake and execute complex aircraft support and upgrade projects, while also providing training services in the defence and security sectors, by combining the Group's existing solutions and products with Superior Air's service offering.

Superior Air's operational presence extends across five strategic bases: Megara (Megara airport), Koropi (Helipad), Mykonos (Helipad), Santorini (Helipad), and Sparta (Sparta airport), ensuring broad geographic coverage and a high level of operational readiness nationwide.

Grigoris Koutsogiannis, CEO of EFA Group, states: “Our investment in Superior Air is part of our broader strategic plan to strengthen EFA Group's presence in the aviation and defence sectors, creating an integrated ecosystem of services that covers the full spectrum, from maintenance and support to training and specialised aviation services. By leveraging Superior Air's expertise and operational infrastructure, the Group aims to further expand through national and international support contracts, lifecycle management programmes and aviation services in new markets.”

Nikos Kalogiannis, CEO of EFA Ventures, part of EFA Group, adds: “The investment in Superior Air reflects our strategic focus on developing strong capabilities in the defence sector, with an emphasis on the technical support and upgrade of aviation assets. We invest in infrastructure and expertise that enhance the sovereignty and resilience of defence capabilities, while also creating added value through synergies with the Group's existing ecosystem.”

Konstantinos Sofianos, CEO of Superior Air, concludes: “Our integration into EFA Group marks an important milestone for Superior Air and the beginning of a new phase of growth. By leveraging EFA Group's international presence, we are creating conditions to strengthen our capabilities, internationalise our services and enter the defence sector. With its support, we aspire to evolve into a fully integrated and competitive provider of MRO, training and specialised aviation support services, with a strong focus on safety, quality and sustainable growth.”
