Aura Aero has presented cabin configurations for the ERA, its hybrid-electric regional aircraft, outlining an approach built around operational flexibility across passenger, corporate and cargo roles at AERO Friedrichshafen 2026.
The aircraft has been designed as a modular interior space rather than a fixed cabin, allowing operators to adapt layouts across different missions within the same day. The concept combines comfort, usability and environmental performance within a single aircraft architecture.
A cabin height of 1.88m, cylindrical fuselage section and 20-inch central aisle create a more open environment than typically seen in this segment. The removal of overhead bins increases the sense of space, with luggage relocated to forward storage areas offering up to 70 cubic feet of capacity. Large windows bring in natural light, supporting a brighter cabin atmosphere.
Materials selection reflects a focus on environmental performance, with planned use of bio-based and recyclable materials including linen, basalt and cork. Onboard systems include Starlink connectivity and USB-C ports at every seat, supporting a range of use cases from work to rest.
The ERA is available in multiple configurations. An eight-passenger Lounge layout introduces a club-style cabin with 23-inch seats, flexible seating zones and a convertible rear section. A nine-passenger Business configuration focuses on productivity, with wide seats and a 38-inch pitch designed to reduce fatigue on corporate missions.
Regional transport versions accommodate 16, 18 or 19 passengers, balancing capacity with comfort through optimised layouts and seat pitch options up to 34 inches. These configurations are intended for frequent operations while maintaining a more spacious cabin feel.
A cargo variant provides up to 760 cubic feet of volume, supporting bulk freight or standard pallet loading through a large cargo door. The aircraft’s reconfiguration capability enables operators to switch between cargo and passenger missions within the same operating day.
Performance targets include a 25,000ft ceiling, 250ktas cruise speed and operation from short or unpaved runways. The hybrid-electric system is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 80%, alongside lower noise and operating costs.
With nearly 700 letters of intent and 20 firm orders, the ERA programme is drawing early interest from operators seeking more adaptable regional aircraft solutions.
