Duncan engineers complete specialist training on jet engines
Factory-led training with manufacturer experts is expected to improve maintenance, efficiency and reliability for operators using PW308 engines.
The PW308 remains the largest engine supported at Duncan Aviation’s DOF, with the training enabling more efficient overhaul events from disassembly through to final inspection.

Duncan Aviation has strengthened its Pratt & Whitney Canada designated overhaul facility capability after five technicians completed four weeks of factory-led training on PW308A and PW308C engines.

Delivered by Pratt & Whitney specialists, the programme expanded in-house expertise and supported Duncan Aviation’s ability to maintain engines enrolled in its service programme.

Technicians worked directly with tooling, inspection procedures and overhaul processes, building a deeper understanding of engine design and operational behaviour that supports more efficient maintenance and troubleshooting.

“This training gave our technicians the opportunity to learn directly from factory experts and gain a deeper understanding of the PW308A/C engine,” says Brian Harms, manager of Duncan Aviation’s Pratt & Whitney overhaul shop. “They became familiar with the specialised tooling and quickly picked up the engine’s unique characteristics. That knowledge allows us to organise our work more efficiently and deliver an even higher level of service to our customers.”

The team moved straight into its first PW308A overhaul following the training, with additional engines scheduled through the year.

“The Pratt & Whitney trainers shared their deep knowledge of the engine, including nuances you only learn through experience,” says Alec Pusateri, programme engineer at Duncan Aviation. “That kind of direct communication with the OEM strengthens our relationship and helps us better support customers by identifying reliability improvements, recommended upgrades and components that should be replaced during every overhaul.”

Line-authorised support is also available across Duncan Aviation’s MRO locations in Battle Creek and Provo, widening service access for operators.
