SkyTrac launches mobile app for fleet flight-following platforms
Active aircraft tracking, flight history and integrated weather layers are included in the initial release of SkyTrac Mobile.
The app acts as a companion interface to the company’s existing web-based tracking systems, enabling field personnel to follow aircraft activity from handheld devices.

SkyTrac Systems has introduced SkyTrac Mobile, a cross-platform mobile flight-following application that allows operators to monitor aircraft fleets using smartphones and tablets.

The Android or iOS application connects with SkyTrac’s flight-following platforms, including TrooTrax, SkyWeb and WebSentinel, extending aircraft monitoring capabilities beyond traditional operational control centre environments.

Capabilities in the initial release include active and inactive aircraft tracking, historical flight path data and integrated weather layers such as METARs and TAFs. Radar coverage is available across the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia alongside USA Max Reflectivity data.

“The addition of a cross-platform mobile flight tracking app for our users is a huge milestone for SkyTrac's software portfolio,” says Iain Ronis, director of product development at SkyTrac Systems Ltd. “The app gives users of our flight-following platforms a quick and simple view of their fleet's flight paths, aircraft status and more. As we gather operator feedback and learn more about how customers use the app, we plan to continue expanding its capabilities. Operators can expect additional functionality in future releases.”

SkyTrac plans three development updates during the coming year to expand the platform’s capabilities.

Version one is expected to introduce two-way messaging and direct phone calls to aircraft alongside graphical area forecast weather products for Canadian operators. Later updates will add further emergency response tools, enhanced weather decision-support features, ADS-B alerting and additional user customisation options.
