Burns receives Living Legends of Aviation honour for decades of leadership
The Gulfstream president was recognised at the 23rd Living Legends of Aviation Awards in Beverly Hills, following his earlier Lifetime Aviation Industry Leader accolade
Burns joined Gulfstream as a CAD operator in 1983 and became president in 2015.

Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream Aerospace, has been inducted into the Living Legends of Aviation at the 23rd annual awards ceremony held on 23 January 2026 in Beverly Hills, California.

The honour follows his 2024 recognition with the Lifetime Aviation Industry Leader Award. The Living Legends of Aviation Awards, organised by Kiddie Hawk Air Academy, celebrate key figures across aviation, from record breakers and astronauts to pilots and industry executives.

“Mark is a superb leader who embodies aviation,” says Phebe N. Novakovic, chairman and chief executive officer of General Dynamics. “His comprehensive knowledge, leadership, courage and compassion exemplify a living legend of aviation.”

Burns joined Gulfstream in 1983 as a CAD operator, working in engineering and customer support before becoming president in 2015. He has led the company through a period of innovation and expansion, overseeing next-gen aircraft development and growth in customer support.

He is also executive vice president at General Dynamics and serves on several boards and advisory councils, including GAMA, Georgia Power and the NBAA.
