Textron Aviation has delivered the first Cessna Citation Ascend to a retail customer, marking the midsize business jet’s entry into service after receiving type certification from the Federal Aviation Administration in November 2025.
Launched in 2023 to succeed the highly successful 560XL series, the Citation Ascend features a completely redesigned cockpit, improved performance and a more luxurious flat floor cabin.
“The first Citation Ascend delivery underscores Textron Aviation’s commitment to redefining the midsize segment with an aircraft that blends innovation, efficiency and unmatched comfort,” says Lannie O’Bannion, senior vice president, sales and marketing at Textron Aviation.
The new cockpit incorporates the latest Garmin G5000 avionics with autothrottle technology, three 14-inch high-resolution displays, synthetic vision and advanced weather detection to reduce pilot workload and improve situational awareness. A second Iridium data radio and controller-pilot data link communications (CPDLC) support more direct routing options.
The cabin seats up to 12 passengers with nearly 15% larger windows and wireless control of lighting, temperature, window shades and entertainment. Standard Gogo US Avance L3 Max Wi-Fi keeps customers connected, with optional Avance L5 or Galileo HDX available.
Power comes from two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW545D engines offering enhanced fuel efficiency and increased thrust. The aircraft delivers a maximum cruise speed of 441 knots true airspeed and a four-passenger range of 1,940 nautical miles.
